The cats on the keyboard

So I'm posting from my phone. Because I'm too nice to move him. Or in don't want to be clawed. Both work.

So! I've been knitting! I'm making a super cute mouse skin rug that'll be big enough for lord fluffbutt to roll around on in a catnip stupor. It's... Rainbow puke colour.

It's coming into summer here, so the yarn choices are a bit limited.. Plus the craft and wool stores around here are in decline because this city is slowly dying. Which sucks quite a lot actually..

BUT.
Lookit! A real Rainbow Puke mouse tail!
Actually this things name will be Rainbow Puke, since I just decided.

As you can see, he's not going nowhere.

Inactiveness and new skills.

Yeah, it's been a while. I just haven't been in the mood.. Or had a stable internet connection to blog.

I've been learning new things though, and completing a rather awesome blanket.

Over the next few days I'll share all that I've been doing, and with any luck it'll get me back into the swing of blogging.

For now, have this :)

Second band from the stitch along

It's beautiful- DDR :D

I'm so glad I caved and bought the missing colours, it's so vibrant :)
I made 2 substitutions, and plan to get a few new shirts soon, so I will definitely be wasting this design onto it!

Work experience and the uterus

Today was my first day at work experience, at best and less in the city.
I was unpacking pallets and boxes for half the day- the baby stuff is so cute!
And soft and fluffy and omg babby
;)

Uterus now wants baby in there. Mind knows that it's unlikely to ever happen.

Iz my birthday :D

And.. I did very little.
Had a yummy fry up breakfast, Nutella on toast for lunch (omg Nutella *drools*) and a really nice pig roast with lots of veggies, pear sauce and a mountain of crackle.

I've done a bit of stitching, I really need to fix a hem in my work pants and I'm going for a nice long hot bubble bath soon.

Not a bad day at all. I'll be doing more birthday type stuff after payday, as the fiancée was left with no cash after a few doctors trips in the last month.
I'm hoping for a tour of the Boags brewery! Mmmm....beer....

My birthday is tomorrow

And I've got everything organised..
As much as can be expected, anyway.
Posts will be short for the next few days as I'm almost out if data on my plan, but I'll still be attempting to post every day. :)

A new project!

Onto my next doohickey!

I'm doing the SAL on Sprite Stitch, but I already have a picture of it on my last post, so I won't worry about putting it here too.

I've just gotten the last couple of colours I needed, and have gridded out and started the baby sampler? Birth record? what are these properly called, anyway? baby thing for my to-be--second-cousin.

My cousin has about 8 weeks left until her due date, and is having a little boy. It's a funny story with my siblings and her and her siblings - both our mothers are sisters, and  both our fathers are brothers. We all grew up together, our little tribe - she's one of 5 and i'm one of 3. So it's quite a close bond we all have.

SO. Backstory over - I've just started this:

and have just started the bunny. like, two lines in.
It's from a Cross Stitcher Magazine, April 2012 issue. :)

i'll update more as I go!

Mario Kart Band = Done!

*happy dance*
I liked this band - nice and easy. A few colour changes, but the shading effects are always worth it.

Off to talk to my boss for next week - i'm doing a week work experience in Best and Less, for the finishing up of my Cert. 2 in retail. :)

And I may go to spotlight to check out the sales *crosses glingers fingers in vain for Aida to be on sale*

Mario Kart!

Ok so I forgot yesterday's post. That's because I was stitching this:

It's the first band in the April Sprite Stitch Stitch-along :) - Mario Kart!
I've only got Yoshi left to do.

Listening to Star Trek: Enterprise.

:D

I also finished reading Dragon's Blood by Robin Hobb, yesterday. *wonders when her next book is coming out*

April Update - and an early birthday resolution.

Heya peeps - Happy April Fools day! Also chocolate egg day, hot cross bun day, and scratch yer bits day... not sure if that last one is real, though.

So I guess monthly  updates is the go.. except i'm going to do my damndest to update  29 more times this month. I have my birthday in a few days, and i'm travelling at the end of the month, so it's not like i'll have nothing to talk about. I have the blogger app on my phone, too,so I really have no excuse.

The pattern making juice has ebbed, this last  month - no new patterns short of a couple of sampler bands for the upcoming sprite stitch monthly challenge, and a quick Growlithe pattern that I made from an old red/blue sprite for a phone case I got,and promptly stitched all over.

So my resolution is to update once a day, for at least April, even if it's just a photo.

Update#1:

I finally took the crotch of the onesie I made last october up. No more red tomato sack onesie for me!

(it was really cold when I was over in Perth last. My bestie talked me  into it, and we just bought what was left on the bolt of the cheapest fleece we could find) It's not winning any beauty contests, but it's very good at being comfy and warm.

DINOSAWRZ, Family and a sale!

So i'm up to.. camptosaurus on my dinosaur alphabet - it may be up a day or two later than Monday though - family is visiting! :D

Went out for a delicious lunch today with them, and had a nice walk along the river foreshore. I forgot how nice it was down at the river.
View from my seat at the restaurant today!

-

The Camptosaurus is coming along well, I just need to colour match a few things and then it'll be up in the store on Shop Delighted. Clicky here to got to the shop! :D

I like Shop Delighted so much more than Etsy - it's a little quiet, sure, but it's still starting out, and importantly, not populated with cupcakes and resellers. It seems to be populated with FJL's and that is so, so awesome.

On a very random note, i'm thinking of making a second SD store, purely for Star Trek stuff.

I'm also having a little bit of a sale - Any physical item on my SD Shop must go! I'll accept any reasonable offer, as long as it covers shipping. :) Sale ends sometime on the 23rd, just message me on SD to reserve/make an offer!
It's mostly finished cross stitches, but there's a few travel mug covers as well.
There's nothing wrong with anything, I just need space, and my little area just isn't big enough anymore.

I'm off to work on dinosaurs some more, and Maybe watch some Adventure Time. See ya! :D

Sectret Project Revelaed!

It's.... DINOSAURABET.

I got the idea just before New Years - how cool would it be to be able to stitch your way through the alphabet.. of dinosaurs?

half-assed Backstory:
Growing up, I always wanted to be a paleontologist. I loved Dinosaurs - still do.
My favorite is the Protoceratops.
/Backstory

But I didn't want it to be those alphabets where the dinos were wrapped around into the letter, or peeking out from behind it. It's been done heaps of times. But, what about the dinosaurs themselves, with their name - as a picture? Then put them in order, and walah! Dinosaurs in alphabetical order.

I did make sure to include the.. less popular? dinos instead of the usual ones you see - there are so many different dinosaurs out there it's insane. I've also tried to include dinosaurs from all different corners of earth - there's North America, South America, Australia, theres a couple that were found globally, if I remember right.. and I've included a few pterosaurs - though they aren't true dinosaurs.

I'm excited for this - i've got my list done, and my research pics organised, so it's just a matter of doing the patterns. My goal is to do 1 a week, so for the next 26 weeks, there's going to be a new dinosaur out there in the world.

This week, to kick everything off, is the Agustinia!

From Wikipedia:
Agustinia is a genus of sauropod dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous Period of South America. Like all known sauropods, it was quadrupedal and herbivorous. Although some sauropods are known to have body armor, Agustinia's armor was unique even among sauropods. It had a series of wide, vertical spikes and plates down the center of its back, somewhat like the unrelated Stegosaurus. Aside from the armor, very little is known about the anatomy of Agustinia. A fibula (lower leg bone) has been recovered that is about 3 feet (895 mm) long. When compared to the same bone in related dinosaurs, this indicates that Agustinia may have been about 50 feet (15 meters) long.

The name Agustinia honors the discoverer of the specimen, Agustin Martinelli. This dinosaur was originally named in a 1998 abstract written by famous Argentine paleontologist Jose Bonaparte. The original generic name was Augustia, which, as it turned out, was already preoccupied by a beetle (see also: Megapnosaurus, Protognathosaurus). Bonaparte changed the name to Agustinia in a full paper published in 1999, which also introduced the family Agustiniidae. There is one named species (A. ligabuei), which is named in honor of Dr. Giancarlo Ligabue, a philanthropist who provided financial support to the expedition which recovered the remains.

Agustinia was recovered from the Lohan Cura Formation of Neuquen Province in Argentina, which is thought to date from the late Aptian to Albian stages of the Early Cretaceous Period, between 116 and 100 million years ago.

Only fragmentary remains are known. These include fragments of vertebrae from the back, hips, and tail regions of the spinal column, and 9 of the oddly-shaped plates or spikes which were attached to those vertebrae. Parts of the lower hind limb were also recovered: a fibula, tibia, and 5 metatarsals. A femur (thigh bone) was found at the site but was too fragmented to collect.

Definitely a different looking Dinosaur!

So, i'm listing the Agustinia on both my etsy store and my Shop Delighted store, i'll be tagging both with dinosaurabet, if you want to go looking, though i'll have links below. :)

Fires...

It's been a few days since my last post - i've been busy filling orders and planning out the start of something awesome. I can't say anything yet though -Spoilers!

It's been quite hot here in th last few days, there's ben huge fires in the south of my state, and homes have been lost. I don't think any people have, though, which is good.

(I hate to think about the pets/livestock, though. :( )

Just a quick post to say that i'm alive, safe, and feeling for those in the south. :(

Happy new year!

So it 2013 now, the presents have been unwrapped, the booze drunk... And a new day dawned.

I'm going to try to post here at least every other day, it'll probably just end up being rambling nonsense or plugging things I've made, so you've all been warned!

I think this year will bring big changes in my life, for better and worse. Hopefully more of the better than worse though!

I'm determined to get by body into gear- I can feel my biological clock ticking, and with PCOS, fatty liver and possibly only one ovary, things have been made tough for me. Challenge accepted.

I want to get my stores filled with more stock, and start offering kits - I make cross stitch patterns, and have a few big exciting things lined up in that area - and possibly offering supplies as well.

There's more I want to start, like getting my garden beds finally put in. It'll have to wait though, as I'm posting from my phone and button mashing a LOT.

So on a parting note, happy new year!
